Question:

What is SRS TruSurround and how does it work?

Answer:

SRS TruSurround is a licensed technology from SRS Labs that allows a TV's 2.0 speakers to play incoming 5.1 or 6.1 surround signals. It processes the signal and adds audio effects during conversion, creating "phantom" speakers that simulate surround sound without needing a Home Theater System. When a TV receives a mono or stereo signal, the conversion process remains the same.

SRS TruSurround is a format that is licensed from a company called SRS Labs.

Essentially, the technology takes an incoming 5.1 or 6.1 source signal and makes it playable over the TV's 2.0 speakers.

The SRS TruSurround technology processes or converts the incoming surround signal.

During this conversion, TruSurround also adds different audio effects to the signal.

After the conversion, the sound is now playable over the TVs 2.0 speakers, one left and one right channel.

When playing audio with SRS TruSurround, the technology creates "phantom" speakers that appear to extend all around the customer, simulating the surround sound without a Home Theatre System.

Note:

When the customer is using SRS TruSurround and if the TV is receiving a Mono or Stereo signal, the conversion proccess the same.
