Question:
How
do I turn on/off closed captioning and what sources support this feature?
Answer:
The
caption function will turn on and off the closed captioning display. Closed
captioning will typically display a transcription of the audio portion of a program as it occurs (either verbatim or in edited form), sometimes
including non-speech elements.
Important:
- This
function is only available whe you are on the TV (Coax) or AV source. HDMI,
Component, and PC inputs do not carry the closed caption signal, if you
are using the HDMI, Component, or PC source you will need to activate closed
captioning in your external device.
- Not
all channels carry a closed caption feed. If the feature is turned on and
there are no closed captions the program may not be carrying a closed caption
broadcast.
To
activate closed captioning:
- Select
'Caption' from the 'Support' section of the Main Menu, and then press ENTER.
Note:
If 'Caption' is grayed out (cannot be selected) you are on a source that
does not carry the closed captioning signal (HDMI, Component, or PC). Please
turn on closed captioning in your external device.
- Use
the ▲ or ▼ to select ON or OFF, and then press ENTER.
- Press
EXIT
to leave the Main Menu.
