I See A Line Rolling Through My Picture
Cyber

The line you see rolling through your picture (usually starting at the bottom and rolling up to the top and then repeating), can have one or more causes.

To determine the cause of the rolling line, follow these steps:

  1. Check for the rolling line on all the sources you use (cable, component, HDMI, etc.).
  2. If the rolling line appears on all sources, your TV may not be grounded properly. The grounding problem can be caused by the TV or the outlet you’ve plugged the TV into. Check the grounding of the outlet. If the outlet appears properly grounded, then your TV is not grounded properly and needs service. Please click the Create Online Service Request button below. If the rolling line does not appear on all sources, continue to Step 2.

Important: Using a three prong to two prong adapter on the television’s plug removes the grounding on the TV and can cause rolling lines.

  1. If the rolling line only appears on one source, it may be caused by electromagnetic interference, low signal strength, or faulty wiring. To identify the cause of the rolling line click below on the description the best matches your situation.
