Question:
How can I get rid of unpleasant smells in my
refrigerator?
Answer:
- If your refrigerator is brand new, it may have a slight plastic odor. This odor will dissipate in time.
- The refrigerator itself does not produce odors. The contents you store inside your fridge can cause odors. If your refrigerator has an odor, please locate the source and discard it.
- You can help keep your fridge odor free by placing a small box or pan of baking soda inside.
- If something has spoiled in your refrigerator, you may have to remove all the shelves and bins, and then wash them.
- If you store food with strong odors in your refrigerator, please make sure this food is wrapped up tightly to prevent smells from leaking out.
- Please regularly wipe away excess moisture or water from the inside of your fridge. If spills or large amounts of moisture/liquid sit in your fridge for an extended period of time, mold may develop and produce a strong smell.
- Please do NOT place a lit candle in your fridge to remove bad odors. This is a fire hazard.
- Please do NOT spray any chemicals, such as Lysol, inside your fridge to remove bad odors. This could contaminate your food.
