Water Dripping from the Ice Dispenser

Complaint: Customer called to advised that water is dripping from the Ice Dispenser

Answer:

  • When your fridge dispenses crushed ice, there may be a residual amount of ice pieces remaining in the cutting blades, in the ice bucket, and in the ice chute path.
  • When this happens, the ice will eventually melt and the water will travel down the ice chute and past the flapper.
  • The water may then drain to the bottom of the Ice/Water Dispenser and leak to the floor.

If water is dripping from your ice dispenser, please try the following:

  • From the dispenser on your fridge, please dispense cubed ice (NOT crushed). This will flush the remaining crushed ice into the glass.

  • You can wait a few minutes for the remaining crushed ice to melt after you have dispensed crushed ice. A small amount of the water will come out when the flapper is opened.
