PROBLEM 1: Humming, Buzzing, or Grinding

SOLUTION 1:

Dishwasher noises are pretty common and are usually normal operational sounds. This guide addresses loud unusual noises that require troubleshooting or service.

Loud humming, buzzing, or grinding noises imply that something is caught in the drain pump's impeller below the filter.

Warning: Some of the debris in the drain pump or filter may be sharp (glass, bone, plastics, etc). Please use caution to avoid injury.

Inspect the drain filter and pump (Applicable models only).

If your model allows it, inspect and clean out the filter and drain pump opening under the filter.

If your filter and drain pump opening are not accessible but the grinding/buzzing is loud and happens every cycle, then service is required.

Check the water supply.

Make sure it is connected to the dishwasher.

Make sure the home's water supply is turned on.

Verify it meets all requirements listed in the dishwasher water supply requirements guide.

Make sure the dishwasher's cabinet insulation (fabric on the outside of the dishwasher) is in good condition. It dampens sound and holds in heat.

*If the sound still occurs after performing these steps, service is required.

PROBLEM 2:

Tapping or Knocking

SOLUTION 1:

Check The Dishes And Filter

Low humming or vibration noises are normal operational sounds. However, tapping and knocking sounds happen when dishes are not being loaded properly. It could also be a loose filter.

To fix this problem, please perform the following:

Ensure the dishwasher is loaded properly. A utensil could be hanging out of the rack, knocking into the spray nozzles or deflector.

WaterWall models have a removable fine filter system that, if not secured, will bounce around inside of the dishwasher making tapping sounds.

If the sound still occurs after following these steps, service is required.

PROBLEM 3:

Vibration

SOLUTION 1:

Low humming or vibration noises are normal operational sounds. However, if the vibration is very loud, it could indicate a problem.

Make sure the dishwasher is level properly.

Check if dishwasher is loaded properly. A utensil could have fallen out and be causing the sound.

Make sure the dishwasher's cabinet insulation (fabric on the outside of the dishwasher) is in good condition. It dampens sound and holds in heat.

*If the sound still occurs after performing these steps, service is required.

PROBLEM 4:
