PROBLEM :
MEF and WF Ratings
SOLUTION :
Appliance manufacturers' dishwashers must meet certain government standards in order to qualify as Energy Star rated.
- There are 2 main standards that the government uses to measure a machine's energy efficiency:
- MEF - the Modified Energy Factor, which measures the machine's energy efficiency.
- WF - the Water Factor, sometimes referred to as the WCF (Water Consumption Factor), measures the machine's water efficiency.
- The higher the MEF number, the more energy efficient it is, whereas the lower the WF (WCF) number, the more water efficient it is.
- You may want to know your model's MEF and WF (WCF) ratings when applying for tax rebates.
- You can find a unit's MEF and WF (WCF) number in the user manual. It's usually located under Product Specification.
