Change The Dryer's Interior Light

Problem:

Reversing the Dryer Door

Solution:

Note: Not all dryers have a drum light. Refer to your user manual to verify if your dryer has a drum light and for any additional information.

Some Samsung dryers have a small light at the top, to the right of the interior cabin near the front. This light comes on only when the door is open (similar to how a refrigerator operates). When the door shuts, it presses the button, or switch, and turns the light off. You cannot turn this light "on" or "off" while the machine is running. The light will always be off when the door is closed.

If the light no longer turns on or is malfunctioning, you can replace the light yourself.

To replace it, please perform the following steps:

1. Unplug the dryer.

2. Use a Philips head screwdriver and take out the one screw that holds the clear, plastic cover-plate over the bulb.

3. Pull off the cover-plate (the top portion is attached by the screw, and the bottom half clips into a notch).

4. Unscrew the bulb.

5. Replace the bulb and reinsert the cover-plate the same way it was removed.

  • The light takes a 10W bulb available from any home appliance or hardware store.

If the light still does not work, the dryer will require service.
