Question:
Why does my dryer stop
running after a short period of time?
Answer:
If the dryer stops running after a short period of time, the dryer was probably set on a sensor dry cycle. This does not necessarily indicate that something is wrong with the dryer. Sensor dry will set at a predetermined time at the beginning of the cycle, and then adjust the estimated drying time based on the humidity level that the dryer senses.
However, if you are still concerned, please perform the following:
- Check the load size.
- If you've selected a sensor dry cycle and there are no clothes in the dryer, the dryer will sense that there is no humidity in the dryer, and reduce the time to 5 minutes, and then turn off.
- If you have a few light items, such as a couple of t shirts, the cycle time may start out long but then be adjusted to a much shorter time as the clothes dry.
If the drying time is very short and the clothes are coming out not dry, your dryer will require service.
Important: Sensor dry is NOT a single cycle; sensor dry is a category of cycles (see example below). Check what cycle you are running to see if it's a sensor dry cycle or a manual dry cycle.
