Question:

How to determine if my TV has a protective film or not? What should I do if I accidentally removed the wrong one?

Answer:

Some TVs come with polarizing film on the screen that is part of the actual TV, while others come with a scratch-resistant protective film to prevent scratches during shipping. It's essential to know which is which - the protective film should be removed after unpacking the TV, while the polarizing film should not.

To check if your TV has a protective film or not, follow these steps:

Look for a small dot in the top left corner of the TV screen. This indicates the presence of a polarizing film. Do not attempt to remove it, as doing so might damage the screen.

Check for a pull tab in one of the corners, usually the top left. If present, it signifies the existence of a removable protective film. Gently pull the tab in the indicated direction to remove the film.

In rare cases, you may find removable film without a tag in the corner. Look for a barcode sticker on the screen. Use a piece of tape to stick onto the film and gently pull it up from the corner.

If you accidentally removed the polarizing film instead of the protective one, it's likely due to confusion between the two or forcefully removing the protective film without using the proper method. Unfortunately, once the polarizing film is removed, it cannot be replaced. However, the TV can still function normally, albeit with potentially reduced image quality. To avoid such situations, always refer to the model list provided by the manufacturer to confirm if your TV model has a protective film or not.

Solution & guide

Please refer to "model list" sheet. Only mentioned models have a protection film.

If the customer has a question regarding film on TV, the first step is to identify if the TV has a protective film, polarizing film or no film.

Once identified, please follow the corresponding steps below:

Polarizing Film

The polarizing film will have no stickers or indicators telling you to remove it.

The second thing is that there is is a very small dot in the top left corner of the TV.

This will not be visible when the TV is on, but if you see this, do not try to peel anything off as this will damage the screen.

Protection Film

The protection film will have a pull tab in the top left corner (in most cases) or in some other corner indicating the direction you should pull to remove the film.

This film should be removed.

Protection Film with no removal tag

In a few rare cases, you may have removable film, but not have a tag in the corner.

In this case, there will be a barcode sticker on the screen.

Try using a piece of tape and remove the film by sticking the tape to the film and pulling it up from the corner.
