Dryer Is Leaking

PROBLEM:

Dryer Is Leaking

SOLUTION:

Check for condensation and inspect the leak's source. Ensure the exhaust vent meets specifications.

a. Steam-dry models: Check water supply hose for cracks/holes and damaged gaskets. Replace if needed.

b. If water leaks into the drum from the steam system, request service.

Verify exhaust vent requirements (see user manual). Ensure proper ventilation and cleaning.

Clean exhaust vent regularly (recommended: 1-2 times per year).

If moisture is already present:

a. Detach exhaust vent.

b. Wipe off moisture from dryer and vent.

c. Run timed-dry heating cycle to remove remaining moisture.

d. Before reconnecting vent, clean it to prevent future issues.

Maintain a dry environment for your dryer:

a. If water collects on the outside due to humidity, it is likely condensation.

b. Reduce environmental humidity or wipe down your dryer with towels periodically.

TERMS:

Condensation: Water droplets forming on surfaces due to cool air contacting warmer surfaces.

Exhaust vent: A duct connecting the dryer to the outdoors, expelling hot air and lint.

Gasket: A seal between two components, preventing leakage.

Humidity: The amount of moisture in the air.

Lint: Fabric fibers and other particles trapped in clothing during washing and drying.

Specifications: Specific requirements or conditions necessary for proper functioning.

Ventilation: The process of supplying or removing air by natural or mechanical means.
