3. What are the changes?

Family hub S/W will be improved by upgrading 'family hub 5.0'. Refer to the attached for the details. We upgraded the Tizen OS from Tizen4.0 to Tizen5.0 to improve performance and compatibility.

Upload & Share video clips and re-live family moments. Share your schedule through Calendar integration on the Family Board.

Add your favorite website as a bookmark on the Family Board.

Gallery now supports video share & video player.

4. Q&A guide for customer

Q : Family hub update pops up on the screen, do I have to update?

A : Family hub is improved including S/W update. We recommend update to use improved function and better performance

 

Q : If you update the S/W, Will the data be removed?

A : User data remains after update

 

Q : What kind of problem can happen after OTN, and how can I handle it?

A : If you have problem like below, please follow below actions and call service engineer when problem persist

Problem

1) LCD is not booting after OTN

2) S/W is very slow

3) App is not running

Action

1) Setting > About Family hub > Restart

2) if problem not solved, Setting > About Family hub > Factory data Reset

   (If your Samsung account is not connected, data will be deleted and never recovered, please be aware of this)

 

Q : Will the S/W become unusable if I don't update the S/W to Family hub 5.0?

A : You can use existing S/W without update, however, S/W maintenance and additional update will be based on Family hub 5.0.

Therefore, we recommend updates for the use of improved function

 

Q : Can I update to Family hub 5.0 directly from the 2.0?

A : It is not possible to update directly from 2.0 S/W to 4.0 S/W

   When Family hub 2.0 user update, S/W will be updated in order of version (3.0 > 4.0 > 5.0)

 

Q : I heard that the family hub has the ability to restart LCD. Where can I do it?

A : In order to restart the LCD, Family hub 3.0 was able to restart the LCD by operating a red power button on the inside of the right door of the refrigerator.

In family hub 4.0/5.0, the restart Function is newly added in S/W button.

In the Setting > About Family hub menu, you can restart the family hub LCD by pressing the restart menu as shown below

Q : Touch is not responding after S/W update

A : Please reset the panel by switch(off and on) the red button placed right door upper corner

   If problem continues, we recommend calling a service engineer

 

Q : S/W Update pops up but, touch is not responding or update is not available

A : Please reset the panel by switch(off and on) the red button placed right door upper corner

   If problem continues, we recommend calling a service engineer.

 

Q : What if the customer doesn't want S/W update?

A : If customer doesn't want S/W update, they can touch 'cancel' button on pop up screen

And If customer want to update later, they can update it through the S/W update button

In the 'setting' - 'About Family hub'

   Update notification pops up when you reboot the LCD after touch 'cancel' button

   Family hub LCD has 'Silent Reboot', it can make update notification pops up once a week

    'Silent Reboot' is function that LCD reboots automatically once a week at dawn

However, S/W maintenance and additional update will be based on Family hub 5.0

Therefore, we recommend updates for the use of improved function

 

 

Q : We need more description about Family hub 5.0 AppStore - App Download

A : - You can update each app individually

If certain app update is released, it is displayed as an arrow icon

If you click 'automatic Update', every app will be updated if they have new version.

And also, if 'Update All' button is on, every app will be updated automatically at 5 ~ 7am (in the morning) everyday.

Once app is updated, it will notice in the Quick panel

 

- You can download additional new apps only for apps provided by Samsung

 (Other open Tizen App or Tizen App you developed cannot be installed in the family hub)

 

Available Apps are displayed at the bottom of Apps

 

 Q : What if an error occurs during App download/update in app store

A : Depending on the network communication status, there may be a problem with App download /update. Please check the Wifi router and network status connected to the family hub

  First and try App download/update again.

 

Q : What if I don't want to use the family board in Family hub 5.0?

A : You can enter the home screen editing mode and turn on/off the family board screen

 

 

Q : I heard that the network status can be intuitively seen from family hub 4.0, Where can I check it?

A : You can check the connection status between the family hub and the Wifi router, and the

   Network communication status of the Wifi router in Setting - Connections - Network Status

   Menu, as shown below

   In addition, the function that initialize Wifi/Bluetooth information has been added (See next Q&A picture)

 

Q : Can I install Social Media App like facebook, What's app?

A : In the family hub, only 'Available apps' listed on the 'Apps' menu are provided

   We will continue to develop and expand the available apps

 

Q : How can I check whether S/W is updated or not?

A : You can check Setting - About Family hub - Software version

If version date is after Apr. 20, your Family hub is updated

In addition, SW information shows you the version name (FHUB5.0 S/W / FHUB4.0 S/W)

And If your Family hub is connected to Wi-Fi, official notification will be popped up within 1 week, or within 30 mins after LCD rebooting
