Question:

Why are some menu options grayed out on my TV? Is there a problem?

Answer:

Subject:  TV has grayed out menu options

If a menu setting is grayed out, this does not indicate that something is wrong with your TV.

It just means certain settings or options aren't available based on the current source, settings, or connections.

For example, if your TV is not connected to the internet, the settings for Software Update or Contact Support will be grayed out since those options require an internet connection.

Here are a few examples of the most common settings that are grayed out and why:

  • If Picture Mode is grayed out, HDR + is turned on.
  • If Auto Program is grayed out, there is no coaxial cable connected to the TV.
  • If Film Mode is grayed out, the input signal is not TV, AV, Component (480i or 1080i), or HDMI (1080i).

For all other grayed out menu options, please refer to the description in the menu.

The description will let you know why certain options are grayed out.

You can also check your user manual for more information.
