Question:

What should I do if my TV won't connect to the internet?

Answer:

Subject:  TV does not connect to the internet

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Run a network status test: Go to Settings > General > Network > Network Status and perform the test. Pay attention to any error messages or issues with connectivity between the TV and router/globe.

Cold boot the TV (if applicable): If you have an RU7 series UHD TV (RU7100 - RU7300 and RU710D - RU730D) and the network drops after the TV was off overnight, try cold booting the TV by holding the power button on your remote until the TV turns off and then back on.

Check for an error message: Look for an error message during the network status test. Common reasons include incorrect passwords, failed MAC addresses, and compatibility issues.

Power cycle your network equipment: Unplug every network-related device (router, modem, etc.), and the TV. Then, starting from the wall, plug in the first device and wait for it to finish booting up. Continue this process until all devices are powered back on, including the TV.

Install any available software updates: Check for a software update and manually install it if one is available. You can find instructions for this in the user manual or online support center.

Reset the TV: Navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset and enter your PIN (default is 0000). After the reset, try connecting again.

Ensure your Wi-Fi network is compatible with the TV: Check the user manual for network requirements and make sure your network meets them.

Disconnect other Wi-Fi devices: If you have multiple devices connected to your network, disconnect them temporarily and try connecting the TV. If it works, consider upgrading your router or connecting fewer devices simultaneously.

Try connecting to a different network: Test the TV on another network, such as a mobile hotspot, to isolate the issue. If the TV can connect to another network, contact your ISP or router manufacturer for assistance.

Contact your ISP or request service: If the issue persists, reach out to your ISP or the manufacturer of your router for additional guidance. If they determine the TV is the problem, contact the manufacturer's support center to request service.
