Streaming with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12

PROBLEM :

Streaming with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12

SOLUTION :

PC Share Manager is the Samsung version of a DLNA compliant program. However, you can use any DLNA compliant program to stream media from your computer to your TV. Below are the steps to allow your Windows 7 computer with Windows Media Player 12 to stream to your TV.

The steps below apply after you have connected your TV to your network, and the TV has passed a network test.

  1. Open Windows Media Player 12.

  2. Select and click on the Stream option in the toolbar.

  3. Click on Turn on media streaming.

  4. Click Turn on media streaming on the pop-up that appears.

  5. After you turn on media streaming, you will see a window that says Allowed on the Media program on this PC and remote connections.

6. Click Choose homegroup and sharing options.

  7. The Homegroup window will appear. Under Share media with devices, select Stream my pictures, music to ensure it is checked. Save your changes if any are made.

  8. Click OK on the Media streaming options window.

  9. You have now enabled media streaming to devices that are in your home network.

  10. Next, you will need to navigate to the Allshare option in the Content menu.

  11. Select your computer name using the arrow buttons on the remote.

  12. You are now able to access media that is stored on your Windows 7 PC. Go to the type of media, and select what you want to play. If the file format is unable to play, please check your user manual for codec compatibilities.

Note: If you are unable to stream media to the TV after following these steps, make sure the TV is connected to the network. If the TV is connected to the network correctly, your computer may be the root cause.
