TV returns to default settings

PROBLEM :

TV returns to default settings

SOLUTION :

All Samsung TVs come with a Shop Mode or Store Demo function. Designed for retailers who need to frequently reset display TVs, these functions return a TV to its factory settings every 20 minutes or after the TV is powered off.

If your TV does not retain your settings, it is most likely in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode. There are two different methods to determine if your TV is in Shop Mode.

The Quick Method

To confirm that your TV is in Shop Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.

  2. Press the INFO button on your remote.

  3. If your TV is in Shop Mode, a box will appear in the middle of the screen that says "Store Demo."

To turn off Shop Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Vol+ button on your TV.

  2. While your TV screen displays the volume level, immediately press and hold the MENU button on the TV for 7 seconds.

    Note:
The TV will display the menu while you are holding the MENU button.

  3. The word Dynamic will appear in the middle of the screen momentarily.

  4. Your TV is no longer in Shop Mode.

If you are unable to turn off Shop Mode using this method, try the next method below.

The Long Method

To confirm that your TV is in Shop Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your TV.

  2. Press the INFO button on your remote.

  3. If your TV is in Shop Mode, a box will appear in the middle of the screen that says "Store Demo."

To turn off Shop Mode, follow these steps:

Important: If you use this method, all the settings saved on your TV will be erased and returned to their factory defaults.

  1. Press the TV button on your remote to set the TV to the RF source.

  2. Press the MENU button to open the Menu.

  3. Select the Setup portion of the Menu, and then press ENTER.

Note: The different sections of the menu are displayed on the left side of the screen and sideways.

  4. Plug & Play should be highlighted by default. Press ENTER to begin the Plug & Play procedure.

Note: If Plug & Play is grayed out, it means your TV is not on the RF source. Return to Step 1.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Plug & Play procedure. When prompted to select Home or Shop, select Home.

  6. Complete the Plug & Play feature.

  7. Your TV will no longer be in Shop Mode.

If your TV continues to return to the default settings on its own, your TV has a defect and needs to be serviced.
