PROBLEM :
Reset and pair the remote to your TV
SOLUTION :
To reset and pair your TV remote, you will need to change the batteries and then try one of the various pairing methods.
Reset the remote
There are two main ways you can reset the remote. You can press a combination of buttons or take the batteries out of the remote.
Use the following instructions to reset the remote using a button combination:
Press and hold two appropriate buttons simultaneously (for ten seconds). The most common button combinations are:
- The Return and Enter buttons
- The Return and Ambient buttons
- The Return and Color - Number buttons
If this does not work or the remote is not functioning properly, you should try resetting the remote by removing its batteries. To do this, please perform the following:
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote and remove the batteries.
- Insert a new set of batteries and test the remote to ensure it works. If the remote does not work with the new set of batteries, please continue with the steps below.
- Unplug the TV power cord for 2 minutes, and then plug it back in.
The remote will now be reset. Please see the next section to learn how to pair the remote to the TV.
Pair the remote
Once it has been reset or if it is the first time using the remote, it should automatically pair with the TV when it is turned on. However, sometimes you will need to manually pair the two devices. There are two main ways to pair a TV remote, based on the model you have.
- On newer TVs, you usually have to press and hold two buttons simultaneously (for three seconds) while pointing the remote at the TV sensor. The most common button combinations are:
- The Return and Play/Pause buttons
- The 1 and 2 number buttons
- If this does not work, there is another method you can try.
- Press the Reset button on your remote. You may need to use a thin object like a toothpick or pen.
- Turn off your TV.
- Stand directly in front of the TV, point the remote at the TV, and then press and hold the Pairing button for 3 to 5 seconds.
- Turn on your TV using the Power button while continuing to point the remote at the TV.
- If the remote beeps, then the pairing is complete.
- If the remote does not beep, then try the previous steps again or try the other method.
If you have replaced the batteries and tried to pair your remote at least twice with no success, and the remote is still under warranty, you can request a replacement remote. If it is not under warranty, you will need to purchase a new remote.
