Connect a digital Home Theater System to the TV

Problem:

How to connect a digital Home Theater System to a TV?

Solution:

There are two methods to connect a digital Home Theater System (HTS) to a TV -

using an analog stereo to mini stereo cable (3.5mm to RCA), or a digital optical cable.

Instructions for connecting via analog stereo cables:

Connect the analog stereo cables' mini stereo (3.5mm) plug to the Audio OUT on the TV.

Connect the RCA plugs to the Audio IN on the HTS.

Turn on the HTS.

Using the HTS remote, set the HTS to the input connected to the audio cables.

You should now hear sound from the HTS.

Note: Ensure that the HTS setting for 2-channel stereo signals outputs sound through all speakers. Refer to the user manual for guidance.

Instructions for connecting via digital optical cable:

Use the digital optical cable to connect the Digital Audio OUT from the TV to the Digital Audio IN on the HTS.

Turn on the HTS.

Using the HTS remote, set the HTS to the input connected to the digital optical cable.

The sound should now be coming out of the HTS speakers.

Note: To avoid echo issues, set the TV volume to zero or select 'External' for the speakers option. Additionally, ensure that the TV is meeting all criteria for transmitting 5.1 digital audio over the optical connection. If not, the HTS might receive only a 2-channel stereo signal, affecting speaker output. Check the HTS settings for simulating surround sound from 2-channel signals, following the user manual's instructions.
