Symptom

Samsung TV is not recognized by external devices including network function

  • For example, when attempting to connect a Synology NAS device to a TV, the TV is not recognized on the connected device.

 

Cause

Environmental issue

  •  From '24 TV, the symbol " meaning inches has been added to the default device name.
  • Some external devices do not recognize this symbol, so Samsung TV may not be recognized.

[Example]

  • Device name before 2024 : 65 OLED
  • Device name after 2024    : 65" OLED

 

Solution

1) The device name can be changed through the path below.

Menu > Connection > Device Name

Please, guide the user to connect the external device after deleting the specific symbol " and try again.

 

2) Disable or enable HDMI source Auto Detection

  • HDMI Source detection is also called HDMI Device Discovery.
  • HDMI Device Discovery feature can be turned on or off using below Key combinations from Remote (no message will display on the screen)
  1.  IR Remote: Mute + 7 + 2 + 9 + Exit
  2. Smart Control: Mute + VOL Down + CH Down + Mute

 

Appendix

    - If a Service Order is inevitably created, please explain to the customer by referring to Solution by ASC engineer.

Please check the customer's Device name.
